Class Action Against Volkswagen

On December 11, 2023, our firm filed an application for authorization to institute a class action against Volkswagen and Audi. This claim seeks payment for compensation for damage to members’ vehicles caused by water infiltration, as well as damages and punitive damages.

Water infiltration problem

Under the Consumer Protection Act, a consumer who purchases a product is entitled to have it used for the normal purpose for which it is intended and that its duration of proper operation is reasonable, taking into account the price paid and the use he makes of it.

However, in recent years, significant water infiltration in certain Volkswagen and Audi vehicles has been observed throughout North America.

Our client’s story

Mr. Juneau acquired a used 2017 Gold SportsWagen in 2023, which was in perfect condition at the time of purchase.

However, only two (2) months after his purchase, he noticed water rings inside his vehicle. He notified his dealer, who admitted that water infiltration was a known problem with Volkswagen vehicles. According to the quote provided by the dealership, all four of the vehicle’s speakers needed to be replaced, and neither the dealer nor Volkswagen agreed to a repair at no charge, on the grounds that the warranty had expired.

The problem of water infiltration persists to this day and Mr. Juneau can no longer have normal use of his vehicle, since he cannot drive in the rain without suffering from this problem.

While searching the Internet, Mr. Juneau found a Facebook group made up of thousands of consumers who noticed the same problem of water infiltration on other models of Volkswagen and Audi vehicles.
