The IVAC provides various rehabilitation measures to help you in your social and professional reintegration efforts. The IVAC covers, among other things, the care necessary for your recovery, whether physical or psychological.
Eligibility Requirements for IVAC Rehabilitation Programs
There are three essential conditions for covering treatment costs:
- the necessity of the need;
- prior authorization;
- and the obligation to provide invoices within thirty (30) days of the costs being assumed.
The necessity of the need is proved by a medical necessity in connection with the events. Medical necessity may be from a physical or psychological point of view in order to bring about a rehabilitation of the victim’s abilities. We advise you to have clear medical certificates for your requests to the rehabilitation counselor to demonstrate the necessity of the need.
Here is a non-exhaustive list of the costs that IVAC covers or grants as part of its rehabilitation programs:
- Psychological treatments (individual therapy, group therapy, couple therapy)
- Physical treatments (massage therapy, acupuncture, relaxation classes)
- Protection costs (guard dog, alarm system, motion detector, change of locks, etc.)
- Personal assistance and home maintenance costs
- Adaptation of the home and the main vehicle
- Moving, storage, packing, phone line transfer expenses
- Lease Termination Fee
- Fees for a name change procedure
- Childcare expenses
- Vocational rehabilitation costs (vocational counselling services, training)
